What is Diwali?
Diwali is a very special celebration for Hindu people as well as Jains, Sikhs and some Buddhists.
It is a celebration of light over dark and good over evil and is also known as the ‘festival of lights’.

When is Diwali?

Diwali takes place every year and lasts for five days.
The dates change every year but it usually falls between October and November.

How can you celebrate Diwali?
Diwali is celebrated in lots of different ways.

  • Rangoli – patterns that are created at the entrance of homes
  • Visiting the Temple
  • Diya Lamps- Lamps which are usually made of clay
  • Fireworks
