Shireland Technology Primary

Shireland Technology Primary, Smethwick, was established by the Trust in 2019 and is waiting for its first Ofsted inspection.

Principal Lady Kirsty Grundy believes that harnessing technology for learning can help to engage and enthuse learners and ultimately raise standards. The technology primary helps pupils to develop 21st Century skills that will be crucial for them to go out and be successful in the world in which they live. Technology is interwoven into the broad and balanced E3L (Excite, Explore, Excel learning) curriculum to deliver outstanding learning experiences to pupils.

In 2022, the two-form entry primary exceeded Sandwell and national figures in every indicator for EYFS and Key Stage 1, with 69% of pupils achieving combined reading, writing and mathematics, ranking the primary joint 5th out of 87 schools in Sandwell in its first ever set of moderated results. It is also a Music Mark School, which recognises its commitment to high-quality music education and school received a National Award for attendance in 2022/23.

As the cohorts move up through the school, an additional year group will be added each year up to 2024 when the school will have all year groups populated – reception to year 6.

Shireland Technology Primary had it’s first inspection on 17 October 2023 which resulted in a rating of outstanding. The full report can be found here – Shireland Technology Primary Ofsted Report.
