Back in June an opportunity arose for Zoonation to collaborate with Birmingham Hippodrome on the curtain raiser called ‘Message in a bottle’ which uses the songs from the Artist ‘Sting’. Zoonation is a dance-based company in London who deliver performance across the country.
As part of this collaboration Zoonation asked if through the HEN network they could audition students to work with and then perform on 24th September 2021 at Birmingham Hippodrome.
Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust has a long-standing relationship with Birmingham Hippodrome and has had a Platinum package with their Education Network for many years. So, when asked if the Trust would like to take part, we jumped at the chance.
Students from our Secondary schools were asked if they would like to be apart of the project. Those who did then had to audition in front of two dance coaches from Zoonation. Only 15 places were available, and with so many great dancers it was a difficult choice!
Those selected then attended a weeklong Summer school, in which they learnt and practiced their routine. Students also attended an intensive weekend for rehearsals ready for their performance which was on Friday!
Students performed at Birmingham Hippodrome in front of a live audience, we are all so proud of our students and want to congratulate them on an amazing performance.
We would like to say a BIG well done to the students who took part in the project:
