Michael Conway-Jones

Chair of Shireland Collegiate Academy’s Standards and Performance Committee

Michael Conway-Jones has been Director of Education at Fircroft College of Adult Education since 2003. As a member of their Leadership Team, he has grown the college’s Skills Funding Agency provision and full-cost programme and been nominee for three successful inspections.

He has undertaken internal change projects and external consultancy in other colleges funded by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service. With Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills status, and as a qualified manager and coach, he leads on the Institute of Leadership and Management’s leadership and management and coaching qualifications. Michael was a founding director of Birmingham’s third sector consortium for education skills and training.

He designed a Foundation Degree in Voluntary Sector Management with Newman University and currently teaches a University of Birmingham Masters module on curriculum design. He gained a distinction in his own MEd for his dissertation about regeneration in Smethwick and has designed resident empowerment programmes for NLDC, Urban Living and Midland Heart. He lives 400 yards from Shireland Collegiate Academy where both his children had success and remains involved with the Trust because he believes that more families should have an outstanding school locally.
