What is the Shireland Teaching School Alliance?

Shireland Teaching School Alliance (STSA) is a partnership of like-minded, good and outstanding Secondary and Primary Schools across the West Midlands. It is supported by the University of Warwick and Newman University and aims to develop the next generation of outstanding teachers through initial and continuing teacher education and development of the very highest quality.

The Lead School in our Alliance is Shireland Collegiate Academy; an Ofsted rated Outstanding school.

  • I’m glad I chose the school direct training route, as it meant I could choose a school to train in that I thought would offer me the best opportunities, and also the best support.

    Sarah Southall

  • The training element has been of a high-quality, with lectures and CPD sessions enriching my professional development. The school provided training by experts in the fields, who gave us useful insights into teaching practice.

    David Archer

  • Having not worked in a classroom previously, a comprehensive view into all aspects of teaching was just what I needed.  Training has opened my eyes to all sorts of ways to be the best I can, and the extensive network of support has provided me with the tools to deal with the demands of the profession.
