Today we formally welcome Shireland Biomedical UTC to the Trust.
Shireland Biomedical UTC is a specialist secondary school based on the High Street in West Bromwich. Formerly Health Futures UTC, Shireland Biomedical UTC (SBU) was the first UTC in the UK with healthcare and health sciences as its specialism, offering learning and career opportunities like no other. With state-of-the-art facilities, including a mock hospital ward and immersive learning room, the school prepares students for health-related careers in the public, private and voluntary sectors, from doctors and dentists to midwives and paramedics.
Historically a school with students in years 10 to 13, from September 2022 the school will welcome its very first Year 7 cohort. As this first group of Year 7 students progresses through the school, a new Year 7 group will join each year until it reaches capacity in 2026.
Everyone at the Trust is very much looking forward to getting to know and working with the SBU school community over the coming years and helping to make the greatest difference possible for their young people.
